Academic Plan
Declaring English as my major next year is a very important goal for me. In order to do that I have been forced to make some changes in my life, both academic and lifestyle. Organization and time management was a big issue for me during first semester, however I have learned that maintaining a detailed schedule for readings, assignments, and tests is essential in achieving academic success. Modifications to my social life were also necessary, such as getting the proper sleep needed, finding a quiet place to work if there are distractions in residence, and always making academics my priority. Services such as Queen's Learning Commons and Good 2 Talk Post-Secondary Student Helpline are aiding me in keeping my goals and emotions on track. I have also recently received an email from Bounce Back which I plan on pursuing further.
I have viewed my options and plan to enroll in a summer online course in order to attain the credits that I have lost. I had previously decided that enrolling in six courses this semester would be too overwhelming for me as I am just beginning to improve academically. I understand that my situation may be a common occurrence for University students, and many are not given a second chance. However, I feel that the threat of jeopardizing my further education has been enough to justify improvement, and I am determined to start fresh. The granting of my appeal would be exactly what I need to do that, and set me up for a successful undergraduate career at Queen's. Thank you.
