Petition Letter
To whom it may concern,
I am requesting to drop my RELS131 summer course after the academic deadline due to extenuating circumstances in my personal life that has caused me to fall behind in my course work in RELS131. I am aware of the financial cost and academic penalty that this implies.
During the summer months, I co-manage a swim school business doing backyard swimming lessons for young children. I am teaching swimming lessons all day and this has caused me to fall behind on my course work. When Queen's announced that the fall 2020 semester would be online, I thought it would be beneficial for myself to take more summer courses to get ahead of my credits so I could take less in the fall. Due to my heavy work schedule, I soon realized that this was not the best option for me and I did not make the right decision. My GPA is extremely important to me and RELS131 has damaged it. That being said, I do not want to participate in this course any longer.
Another thing that has come in the way of my RELS131 course work in my personal life is the COVID-19 quarantine measures. My grandparents live alone up north, and with my parents working full time I was responsible for driving 2+ hours up north to grocery shop for them and take care of them since they are not able to do so in protection of themselves against COVID-19.
I would greatly appreciate your consideration and understanding of my current situation to grant this drop.
Thanks,
Claire Colangelo
