Petition Letter
Dear Dr. Stephenson,
My name is Gillian Duff and in April 2020 I completed my first year at Queen¿¿s University in general science. I am appealing to change my letter grades in Physics 117 and Math 121 to Passes.
Due to extenuating circumstances, I was unable to submit my Pass request. The Solus portal was open May 11-20 and on May 10th I began my summer job, working as a tree planter with Heritage Reforestation Inc. in remote regions of northern Ontario. Prior to leaving, I checked Solus daily, but once my job began, I had zero access to cell service. Please find attached my proof of employment, including dates.
My academic performance in Physics 117 and Math 121, two ¿¿wildcard¿ courses for my desired major in Life Sciences, was lower than I might have achieved in a regular school year, thus my request for Passes rather than letter grades. I am a very motivated and dedicated student, and it is also not like me to miss deadlines. It is my deep hope that my oversight can be amended, allowing me to move ahead on my chosen path in Life Sciences.
Sincerely,
Gillian Duff
