Petition Letter
Hello,
I am requesting this late drop because of the unexpected pandemic greatly reducing my ability to focus, complete assignments, and keep a positive mindset this summer.
The virus thrust me into unfamiliar territory when I was sent back home in the USA. I am someone who has always done work and studied in libraries or coffee shops, which I have gotten used to over the years as it helps me focus and eliminate distractions. I am usually happiest when my life has been on the go and with other human interaction. Being stuck in my room for months greatly impeded my mental state far more than I thought it would, and along with losing study skills and good habits, I became lethargic and it became harder and harder for me to complete tasks, even simple ones.
I am a varsity club athlete here who plays water polo, and exercising is something that brings me great joy as well as a focused state of mind in whatever else I am doing, including schoolwork. With no gyms or pools open, my lack of exercise also affected me mentally.
Beyond this, my family was all working in the house at the same time, and we had just previously switched to a different WiFi network which didn't work as well as we thought it would. There were issues with the internet connection, sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't.
After having moved back up to school and am better prepared for the conditions I will be in, my mental state has already increased and my good habits and organizational/study skills are returning as well. Only being thrown into a scenario I wasn't ready or comfortable in messed with my head.
Thank you very much for your consideration, and I hope everybody is able to bounce back this semester.
