To Whom It May Concern:
I am appealing to return to studies after the requirement to withdraw for three years has lapsed.
When studying at Queen¿¿s University in the fall term of 2007 I was struck with severe social anxiety and stopped attending classes. I did not recognize the condition or seek appropriate medical or academic help at the time. Once behind in my studies I found it impossible catch up and stopped submitting term work. I withdrew from some classes with the intention of writing exams in the others but found myself unable to do even that. My isolation, anxiety and embarrassment continued into the winter 2008 term. I did not attend any classes that semester, withdrew from some courses, and had left Kingston before the term finished.
Since leaving Queen¿¿s University I have worked in retail and later for myself, independently. Over the years spent in these two jobs I have become comfortable, confident and capable when interacting with and leading individuals and large groups.
These skills I now possess and the broad network of nearby friends and family I have established will ensure my future academic success. When returning to my studies I plan to take a reduced, part-time, course load while living in Kingston off my savings and not working. Should any personal issues arise I would not hesitate to seek medical and academic support.
Thank you for your support in the pursuit of my academic goals.
Sincerely,
Christopher Marin
