Petition Letter
I am hoping to request Credit standing in courses from the Fall 2019 term. I realize it is late, and I wish I knew about this opportunity before, but I thought I has missed the deadline with no hope of returning. Today I spoke with Haley Everson about my academic standing, and she suggested that appealing this courses could be extremely beneficial for me and my plan for graduation. During this term my grades suffered significantly due to a situation that came very unexpectedly. It affected me and all my housemates and it was widely documented as we sought professional help, both from the Arts and Science department as well as from the housing director and even therapy within Queens. I am not sure how much detail to go into here but to put it briefly, my housemates and I had a new housemate during this time, and she was extremely mentaller unstable and actually tried taking her own life. We had many occasions where we followed her around in our car when she was driving off upset to make sure she was okay and then it ended with us actually admitting her to the hospital for psychiatric assessment. During this time, we were all very scared and unfocused, leading to not only mine but all of our grades dropping significantly. Since then, I have been keeping on top of my studies and trying my hardest to get back on track. Thank you so much for your time.
