Petition Letter
Dear Associate Dean of studies,
My name is Ryan Radovich and despite my apprehensions about online learning with my ongoing anxiety and depression I like many students decided I did not want to further delay my studies and try to push through it. This was a great error on my part. This semester has been disastrous for my anxiety especially, although I was managing until the past few weeks. Reading week seemed to put my mental health over the edge and i was having thoughts that I had not had since starting medication. It was then I decided to talk to a few counselors and we came to the conclusion that dropping my classes was the best course of action. Since this decision on the 4th I have lost 15lbs of what I assume was stress weight and my dependence on alcohol to sleep has completely ceased.
I believe this decision is the right choice both for my short term health and my long term academic studies as I am taking this time to work on myself mentally and physically. My hope is to be able to return in some academic capacity next semester with a lighter course load due to the challenges of online coursework. The rest of the current semester I will be focusing on why the adaptation to online was so challenging and how to manage stress in healthier ways despite the covid limitations.
I am aware that I have missed the deadline for no financial penalty but due to the proximity to that date and the unprecedented extenuating circumstances I was wondering if any percent of that initial payment could be returned to be put towards my future studies at Queen's
Thank you for your consideration and stay safe.
Respectfully,
Ryan Radovich
