Petition Letter
Dear Dr. Jenn Stephenson,
I am writing this letter in regards of appealing to withdraw from my academic studies for a minimum of one year, beginning immediately. I feel as though extenuating circumstances are prohibiting me from succeeding in my academics. The details of these extenuating circumstances are as follows.
I am currently dealing with a familial problem that I was informed of back in late October. I was informed that a member of my immediate family may be facing legal consequences following an incident. The nature of this situation has also impeded on my family¿¿s ability to provide me with the financial aid that I require for my wellbeing as well as for my tuition. Immediately upon receiving this information, my mental wellbeing had been drastically impaired. This has severely impacted my ability to pursue my academics, as supporting myself and my family through this difficult time has become my priority, in combination with the toll that this situation has taken on my mental health. I have been continuing with my studies since receiving this information, although it has been incredibly challenging to do so as I have greatly fallen behind in them.
Therefore, because of the gravity of this situation, I feel as though I have not been and will not be able to maintain my full academic potential this school year. I am requesting to withdraw from my studies for a minimum of one year because I feel as though it will take this amount of time for my familial problem to significantly improve as well as for myself and my family to become financially stable once again.
I am currently taking steps to help alleviate this situation as much as possible given its nature. I will be seeking help from a mental health professional as well as obtaining a full-time job to aid my financial situation.
Thank you for your time and consideration,
Kind regards,
Kevin Strods
