Petition Letter
I am asking to drop the course PHYS 321 for this 2021 winter term. So far in this course, there has been minimal grading and feedback on assignments. With the midterm approaching in mid-March, I am very worried about the timing of the midterm results and my grade in this course. My results in this course directly affect my ability to take PHYS 414 next year as part of my Astrophysics specialization, and thus can hinder my academic success in my program. Due to these ongoing concerns, a group of students in the class (myself included) decided to bring these issues up to the Physics Department last week, with most of us wanting to drop the course but did not want it to hinder our 4th year courses. I had decided it was best to stay in the course past the drop date deadline until a definite answer was received from the Department Head regarding the offering of PHYS 321 next fall. The updated information was received today, March 11th, and thus I can now drop this course with certainty that I can take it next year without having to take extra time to graduate. Thank you for the consideration of these special circumstances.
