Petition Letter
I regret to say that I can no longer endure the pain while pursuing education. It has gotten to a point where my health has to come 1st unfortunately.
In May 2020 I injured my back while working at Costco as a student. It never fully healed and I continued on with pain. I started the 2020 year with pain and had to either stand or kneel to do my work...I could not sit or lay on my back. At the end of November I had to come home because the pain was continually increasing. I pushed through and ended up doing my courses while laying on his side with his computer sideways. I thought I could get through the second semester but had to drop two courses not long ago and now have plan on pulling out fully. I have been under doctor supervision and been on heavy narcotics, muscle relaxants, anti inflammatories for months and recently put on an antidepressant. We eventually had to drive to Buffalo for an MRI which did not show anything. My blood work thankfully came back with a tracer (HLA B27). I am scheduled in with a rheumatologist next week. My mother and I have been to the emergency room five times in the last four months and recently this weekend. I can no longer raise my arms to type. I would greatly appreciate the help and intend on coming back to school full-time in the fall. My student number 20125033 and email is 18jwh@queensu.ca. I am writing this email because just typing on the computer flares up my back and sends me into a great deal of pain. I would appreciate any help, thank you.
Sincerely, Jarret Heidebrecht.
