Academic Plan
If the university should choose to waive my withdrawal I would like to pursue a B.A. in History. I currently have 84.0 units and require 6.0 units of Canadian history to complete the requirements for this degree program. My intended academic plan is to enrol in a distance-learning course for the 2015 summer term and take HIST 124B - Canada In The World. This course would both fulfill the requirements of the history program and give me the cumulative 90.0 units needed to graduate. I would then like to apply to graduate in the fall of 2015. As I mentioned before I work for a branch of the military that is very encouraging of members who choose to attend school part time. Not only is their financial assistance in the form of tuition reimbursement but there is a willingness to accommodate members if they require additional time or resources though out their part time studies.
While I have laid out my plan above I would like to mention that If it is possible to begin working towards this goal before the summer term that would be my preference. I have an opportunity in the next 3 months to dedicate a large amount of my time to course work and I would like nothing more than to be able to put that time towards my degree course requirements. If the university would permit me to take an equivalent transferable credit through the University of Athabasca I believe I can accomplish this. However, I do realize that due to my previous poor academic performance I may have forfeited that option. I hope that the positive academic record I have established since leaving Queen's through my 3 science courses at the Royal Military College of Canada will demonstrate that I am prepared to take this seriously and have the capability finish with distinction. If it is preferred I am more than happy to provide Queen's with an official RMC transcript. In conclusion, I would just like to say that even if this second approach is not approved I would still be very grateful if I was allowed to take HIST 124B this summer and, by doing so, have the chance to finally complete my degree.
