Petition Letter
To whom it may concern,
I had a panic attack during my PSYCH 100 final exam for the winter term (it is a full-year course). My professor told me I could appeal that this is an invalid attempt at the exam.
I am requesting to retake the exam.
Timeline:
I had a panic attack during the exam on April 14, 2021. It lasted for the exam and a short duration after.
Nausea, sweating, pounding heart rate, I felt like fainting.
I could not focus and did very poorly. Some questions were completely blank.
I have an A in the course and know the material, so I do not want this to affect my grade.
This is an unforeseen circumstance; I have never had panic attacks before.
Although the panic attack was just for the exam. I would like to mention that my mental health declined sharply this term. I have developed anxiety, depression, and suicidal ideations due to conflicts I have in my home life.
In addition. the psych 100 course material brought up unresolved issues I have with my family concerning neglect, abuse, etc.
I started therapy this term through the Studentcareplan.
I can provide documentation that I am in therapy if you need it.
I did not ask for any exam accommodation prior because it was unforeseen.
I have never had such an event happen in all my time at Queen¿¿s (I am an alumni taking courses to apply to another program).
Please let me know what we can do,
Kevin
