Petition Letter
January 26th, 2015
Dear Dr. Horton,
My name is Jenkin Tsang and I am a second year Life Science student and my student number is 10107100. I am writing to you in regards to appealing for a credit standing in CHEM 281 and PSYC 251, both of which were half year courses taken in Fall 2014 semester.
Back in first semester both my grandparents on my mother's side passed away within a month of each other and consequentially my aunt's breast cancer worsened. This took a toll on my work, social, and personal life as I withdrew from people and began to lose interest in my studies. I lost focus and motivation in my courses and was unable to perform to my usual academic levels.
Currently I am seeing a grief counsellor with HCDS and am working with her to devise a plan to help me get back on my feet again. I have also begun reaching to friends and letting them know about my situation in hopes that I will have a net of support in the case that I need a friend to talk to. I am getting back on track and working hard to do so. I look forward to being able to perform at the same academic level as previously. Thank you very much for your consideration.
Respectfully yours,
Jenkin Tsang
