Petition Letter
During this semester, I was studying at home in China. At the beginning of this year, my 68-year old grandma got infected with COVID-19, and she passed away in February. The sudden loss of a family member, the traditional Chinese customs we needed to do for her, and the formalities we needed to finish up for her due to the government regulations really made me struggled between my school work and my family.
Despite of all these, I have really tried my best to catch up with the video courses, finish all the readings, and try hard on doing the assessments, quizzes, and exams on all the courses I have taken this semester. However, ECON243 is a bit too difficult for me, and it seem to me is different from all the courses I have taken. The numerous reading materials and its unique examination method made me struggle. Although I have tried hard, my quizzes scores were still a few points below the class average, with the average score of about 50-55 out of 100, mine were only 40-50 out of 100. So I applied for PIC in March, but my application was refused because this course will be counted to my degree plan. Then I tried even harder on this course, I watched all the recordings on Microsoft Teams for 1-2 times, finished up as much readings as possible, and worked hard on the past exams before exams. Although my midterm test result turned out to be not bad, my final result of this course was a big blow to me, and I am very disappointed to myself.
My average GPA of all the other courses I have taken these two years (including this semester) is about 3.6, and I have really tried hard to achieve this. After all the things I have been through this year, I would be so thankful and grateful if my ECON243 course can be counted as credit only.
Thank you so much for reading my application.
