Petition Letter
This letter is written to CLEARLY STATE THAT I AM APPEALING my examination for Biology 201, In 2014, I received 4 concussions playing contact sports such as rugby and ringette within 8 months, and the last one was in September. Throughout first year at St. Francis Xavier I missed a total of 2 months of school due to post-concussion syndrome re-aggravated by simple exercise. These severe symptoms plagued me yet again this past December as I pushed too hard during a rowing workout and re-aggravated my concussion. I attempted to study through the pain but eventually had to defer my exams due to daily fainting spells and vomiting. Around 2 weeks ago (first or second week of February 2015) I scheduled my biology examination for the 25 of February after the break. Over this past reading week, I hit the back of my head on a car door and have been experiencing symptoms such as severe headaches, nausea, dizziness, inability to sleep, and vomiting. I am unable to read or write without difficulty and I have been at bedrest since the incident. These symptoms have prevented me from studying or attending class for the past two days (Monday 23 and Tuesday 24). I had an MRI scan done over the break and my doctor's both here in Kingston and at home are well notified of my condition and my history. They always recommend rest and to not push myself. This is why I need an appeal for my examination scheduled for Wednesday February 25th, due to these extenuating health circumstances.
