Petition Letter
To the Associate Dean,
I am writing this appeal to kindly ask if you could reverse the decision for a withdrawal of three years from the faculty. I have prepared an academic plan below addressing the major points.
¿¿ Prior to discussion about my return, I would like to bring to your kind attention regarding the challenges I¿¿ve had to face during my entire degree. During my first year at Queen¿¿s, I had trouble settling in and developed anxiety as result. This anxiety had impacted my health with had a direct consequence to my academics and therefore affected my grades, and subsequently being asked to withdraw for a year. I was unable to apply for appeal missing out on my deadline. But ever since then I had gone for counselling and seeked professional help for my health conditions and over this period have improved.
¿¿ On my return post one year break during the first semester of Fall 2020, I completed three subjects with a minimum grade of B out of the four applied. However, the previous semester (Winter 2021) I had a recurrence of similar issues and hence, was unable to focus and did not have the right mindset and I accept that this is my fault for not reaching out for help when I should have.
Based on what is written above which are genuine facts, I plead to the appeal committee to kindly re-consider my position and permit me to continue the course. I hereby agree to have a counselling with the respective authorities to discuss and take this forward.
I sincerely request the appeal committee to consider the appeal on the merits of the case and revert with your decision positively. Shall be pleased to have a discussion / counselling at your convenient time.
Your Sincerely
Durgesh Kumar
