Petition Letter
I am writing this letter in hopes that I can appeal my academic standing. As I do understand the decision to have me withdraw for a year, I also know that if given a chance I will be able to achieve and sustain the required GPA needed. While I am not making excuses for my poor grades, I was dealing with myself and my family contracting covid 19. During reading week, I came into contact with someone who was positive for the virus and ended up positive myself. Although I did not have to go to the hospital, I was in bed/sick for a long time resulting in my absents from my courses and missed assignments. By the time I was able to continue, I was way behind and struggled to catch up.
I know that my past semesters haven¿¿t been great regarding my marks as well. But I do understand where I went wrong and what I can do to ensure it will not happen in the future. If given the chance to start again in the fall or one year from now I will use all available resources to ensure my success in this program. I have already spoken with a student adviser and have disuse a plan that I will follow. I will be better at time management. I will communicate with my professor/T.A more. I will get a tutor and use all other resources available through Queen¿¿s University.
While I admit, I was not ready or prepared enough for the change from college to university, especially online courses. I do believe I now know better and will be using every means possible to better my success in this program.
