Academic Plan
I am shadowing a plan that I do not yet meet the requirement. I plan to study computing (General), I need to study CISC 124, CISC 203, CISC 204, CISC 221, CISC 225, COGS 201, and CISC 300 level course. In the summer term, I will retake CISC 124 and COGS 100. In the Fall term, I will retake CISC 203, CISC 204 and take CISC 221, COGS 201. In the winter term, I will take CISC 225, COGS 201 and CISC 300 level courses. I will meet with an academic advisor to ensure it is a viable option for me.
I plan to be a Full-time student; After the summer term, I am sure I can complete my teeth treatment and do not need to come back to Toronto. I asked my lawyer to help me find Psychiatrists and physical therapy in Kingston; this solved the problem that I spent too much time on treatment. And now my parents have decided to live apart this year, and I have accepted that. After the winter semester, I stayed at my aunt's home and went to her friend's psychotherapy clinic every week to receive help. Now I am much better. My mother plans to get better, and then Canada will accompany me. After my dental surgery, my insurance will solve my partial compensation, and it will help my financial problems. I am looking for learning materials on the Internet to preview the next course, and I joined the computer learning group.
I have made an appointment with an academic advisor and asked for academic help. After contacting Ms. Meg Hall, who works in school accessibility, I got learning support in wellness service, such as extending the examination time and having a separate examination room. When I get back to school, I will make an appointment with Dr. Khanna, the school psychologist, to continue my treatment.
As for my strategies for success, I had difficulties in learning because of my physical and psychological problems. Now I have received psychotherapy and will complete my dental treatment when I return to Canada in July. At the beginning of the fall, I will go to Queens physical therapy center to solve my physical problems as soon as possible. As for my skills to be improved, I am now strictly planning my daily schedule, learning how to learn programming through the network effectively and practicing the contents I learned before (Python and Java) every day. And I will often contact academic advisors and professors. I used to be afraid to communicate with the school and teachers about my learning problems. I always want to undertake and solve them myself. Always do bad and confused, which also led me to lose many opportunities to solve problems in time.
I will seeking advice from my course professor and TA and attending office hours on a regular basis. I got to know a girl who studies computers through peer mentor program. She was very enthusiastic about telling me how to study computer and her experience in course selection, which was very helpful to me. After studying some courses, I found that I was very interested in computers. Although I had poor grades because of many problems before, I now turn to the school for help and learn the correct way of learning. Now I can quickly write the assignments of previous years in CISC 124 and CISC 121.
These are my academic plans. Now I am trying to correct the mistakes and plan a successful future. I hope I can succeed and become an excellent Queens student.
