Petition Letter
Dear Associate Dean (Academic)
I am appealing the grades I achieved in Semester 2017 fall until Winter 2019
Specifically Film 110 A/B, Pols 110A/B Socy 122A/B My first attempt of Psyc 100, Hist 121 A/B, Hist 122 A/B, Pols 212. Rels 131A/B Rels 163
I am a student with heavy ADHD and have taken different types of medication for it throughout my life. From the beginning of high school until the Summer of 2019 I was taking Adderall to do my work which resulted in mental health issues and a lack of an ability to complete my course work. The ADHD medication I was taking inhibited my ability to feed myself properly as well as my ability to engage with my coursework as I felt isolated. There were days where I would not get out of bed and would eat close to nothing. The medication inhibited my ability to go to class, study, and properly take care of myself outside of academics. During the Summer of 2019, I changed my prescription to Atomoxetine HCL. The change to this medication has allowed me to properly perform in my academics in comparison to the level of work I have not previously performed. The change in medication allowed me to fully participate as a student that previously I was unable to do. My transcript clearly changes at this time as I beginning to achieve better grades after my change. I also have documentation of the period when is swapped meds.
My academic plan is to continue and finish my undergraduate degree this year and apply to post-tertiary education. Please consider changing the previously stated grades to ungraded but completed.
