Petition Letter
Hello,
I hope you are doing well. I am reaching out because I want to appeal my application for a Personal Interest Credit for HLTH 332 - Foundations for Understanding Disability: A Health Perspective. I spoke to the Arts and Science Faculty office, and they said that I could try bringing my concerns somewhere else because there is no official process of appealing these decisions.
Nevertheless, my concern is that I was only informed that it might be an issue for graduate programs if I had a personal interest credit after I had submitted it. The form does not say that graduate programs may not accept this; the first time I heard that information was from the academic advisor; thus, I was not given time to reverse it, as the email said that was my final decision. Today, I learned that my top choice graduate program at Columbia University does not allow credits to be Pass/Fail.
I recognize that the policy prohibits reversals after the academic deadline. However, my form has not been processed in Solus (the final grade says Graded instead of PIC Course), and a representative at the Solus office told me that they submitted no request for the form yet.
I have cc'd the Faculty of Arts and Science to reverse this credit if you are open to doing this, as it has not been processed, and I had not been informed beforehand that this would impact my ability to apply for certain programs. Thank you very much.
Take care
All the best,
Lauren
