Petition Letter
To whom it may concern,
I am writing this letter to hopefully appeal both MATH 121 and PHYS 118. I had taken these courses optimistically and did not anticipate the pace and difficulty of summer courses. On top of this I continued to struggle with my mental health and as it gradually got worse, as did my motivation and grades.
Over the course of the last few months, I have suffered extreme losses which have taken a large toll on my mental health. On top of this, continued academic stress and depression caused me to completely lose motivation throughout my studies, and not complete sufficient course work that would otherwise be possible. This would include attending classes, completing assignments, and tests. I have been struggling quite hard throughout this pandemic and online school has been extremely difficult given my learning habits. I believe I am a good student and I understand the circumstances may been making this more difficult as well. I have been receiving help through my therapist in Bedford, Nova Scotia, who has encouraged me to do the best I can, and complete as much work as possible. I continue to see her and work thoroughly to understand the root of the problem, as academics are extremely important. Throughout the school year I see a counselor through Queen??s who works with me to deal with both depression and anxiety, and school. I also continue to learn new study habits and figure out the best options for me. I have been working on developing new habits and finding the time to understand how to battle depression and stay on top of my studies.
I always want to encourage that I continue to try my hardest and be a good student. I am forever thankful for having the opportunity to go to Queen's and I want to uphold the highest standard. This past year has been very difficult, and has shown me a new light of what can happen when depression is at its worst. I do believe this semester has not reflected me as a student, and that there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. I know I will be able to prove myself academically this coming Fall, and hope to begin that path now.
Thank you very much for your time and consideration.
