Petition Letter
Dear Associate Dean(Academic),
I am appealing for an extension of an incomplete grade in MICRO 270 (Fall, 2021) and COGS 100 (Fall, 2021). Towards the end of the semester I started to experience panic attacks and other anxiety related symptoms which made it extremely difficult for me to focus and do my course work properly. My anxiety disorder is not new to me but I did not realize the severity of it until the constant panic attacks started to occur. The severity of my symptoms exacerbated towards the end of the semester due to personal issues at home which is why only these two courses were affected and not the other ones I was taking that semester. I immediately contacted my doctor who I had been seeing since high school for mental health related reasons and she treated me with weekly therapy and also referred me to a psychiatrist for medication to ease my panic attacks so that they do not affect my work. After receiving proper therapy and medication this summer I am now able to properly focus on my work without experiencing any severe anxiety symptoms. I was able to do my exam the moment I contacted both professors through email but ended up contracting COVID-19 and was bedridden for the following week. I am now fully recovered and can complete both my courses outstanding work anytime this semester.
