Dear Dr. Atkinson,
I am appealing my taking courses during the winter 2022 semester at Queen??s University. I am hoping to spend the term abroad on a letter of permission. I previously applied to exchange through Queens?? bilateral exchange program, however, was not granted a spot at one of my top institutions. Therefore, I am still wishing to have the opportunity to study internationally during my undergraduate experience as I believe it will have tremendous academic benefits for me.
I have already been admitted to study sociology, history and geography courses at Trinity College Dublin in Ireland and will soon apply to the University of Edinburgh. Should I choose to study at either institution, due to their world-renowned rankings and prestige, I believe they will sufficiently match the academic rigour that Queen??s has to offer. Furthermore, I will be able to study sociology from a global perspective, gaining insights towards issues such as social patterns, inequality, race, and class structure from a unique lens. Moreover, having the opportunity to study abroad in a new place with a new culture would allow me to experience growth not only academically but socially as well, pushing me outside of my comfort zone that I have built here at Queen??s.
Being granted to study abroad for the winter semester of 2022 would be a once in a lifetime opportunity that I would take full advantage of, bringing back new perspectives to my studies at Queen??s, allowing me to contribute to my fourth-year courses at a deeper level. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Anna Eberlee
