Petition Letter
Hello,
I am appealing to the Dean of Academics regarding my grade in Introduction to Statistics (POLS 385), in which I received a D final grade. This grade is not reflective of the rest of my academic work at Queen's, through my undergraduate degree and my Certificate in Law. Due to the circumstances of studying from home during the Covid-19 Pandemic, my grade in this course suffered greatly.
I took this course during the pandemic when all classes were entirely online, and there were strict stay-at-home protocols in place. These were circumstances out of my control, but they had significant implications on my performance in this course.
Due to the nature of the course material and the teaching methods, the content of the course was unlike any other I have encountered as a politics and history student. As this course is required to be completed as part of my degree, I did not have the option to drop the class.
Without the circumstances created by the COVID-19 pandemic, I would have been able to achieve a higher grade in this course and thereby have a higher overall GPA.
