Petition Letter
To: The Associate Dean (Academic)
I am appealing the Dropped (DR) wording on my transcript for ANAT 315 ?? The Human Musculoskeletal System. I request that this course be completely removed from my transcript.
I am currently enrolled in five courses, and this course is the only course I request be removed from my transcript. ANAT 315 differs from my other courses in various aspects. Firstly, this course is completely in-person without an online component, unlike my other courses. Thus, this third-year course, as a second-year student who was in a fully online schooling environment last year, without having taken an anatomy course before, took some adjustment. The written midterm was completed on 21 October 2021, and the practical lab was completed on 26 October 2021. The deadline to drop this course was on 1 November 2021, however, midterm results were issued on 2 November 2021, after the drop deadline. These results were the first indication that I was struggling to grasp the material, and I did not drop the course before the deadline because I only received my marks after the deadline. Having felt confident of my performance prior to receiving my grade, I was completely shocked to find out that I failed both the written and practical exams. I prepared to the best of my ability for both exams, and therefore, it was evident to me after receiving my grade that I should no longer be enrolled in this course. I was not provided any explanation as to where I went wrong on the midterms prior to the deadline. For this reason, I had little confidence I would have the opportunity to get back on track for the rest of the course. After consulting with an Academic Advisor in my faculty about my options, I decided it was best to drop the course after the deadline of November 1st, 2021.
