Petition Letter
To Whom It May Concern:
I am appealing to drop two courses this Fall term past the academic deadline.
Over the past couple months, I have been dealing with multiple healthcare professionals from Queen??s and externally as well regarding my health, physically and mentally. On top of having insomnia over the last five years, I recently developed sleep apnea this summer. I have to unfortunately wait until January for any medication or help because of backlog. These health issues cause me to sleep only five to six nights a week. This leaves me exhausted and without any motivation to do anything. The nights I can sleep, I wake up around four times a night unable to breathe.
Roommate issues are a large source of my mental health problems. I have not received any money for utilities and wi-fi since the lease has started, it has all been payed for out of my own pocket. I am struggling to keep up with payments and basic needs such as groceries. While this issue is noted as confidential information on the document I provided, I want to express how significant this problem is for me.
I have explained to healthcare professionals that I feel immense stress and anxiety all day and every day. I have been suggested future medical treatment if this persists, but it is not a path I would like to take. I would like to help myself as soon as I can, starting with this.
Dropping the two courses I have submitted will be a huge relief for me, and a great way to get back on track. Moving them to my Winter term will allow me keep up with my degree as well. I am currently very behind in my classes and will be setting myself up for failure if I continue with all five. I have notified both instructors of this plan, and have a written letter from aa healthcare worker.
Thank you,
Marcus Georgievski
