Petition Letter
I am writing to to you today to request approval for a late drop of the remainder of my courses this semester and to temporarily withdraw from studies in order to concentrate on my mental health.
I recently submitted a request and was approval a late drop for one course. I thought that would be sufficient to help me make it through the semester, but it became apparent in the last week that that was not the case. My mental health became so poor that I reached out to my parents and together me make the decision that I should withdraw from my studies, move home and concentrate on my mental and physical health.
I realize I need to put myself first. I need to manage my mental health so that I can move ahead with my life and be happy with who I am as a person but also as a student. I can't do that when I struggle to do even the smallest things related to self care and my studies.
There is so much more I could write but really it's just a continuation of my last appeal and the struggles I have had since starting my university education. I know I want to continue with my academics. I know I'm capable of so much more. I know Queen's will give me the education I need to achieve my goals, but right now my biggest goal is to find stability in my mental health.
I continue to work with my doctors and hope that soon I will achieve that goal so that I can return to my studies in the future.
Thank you for your consideration, and support.
Marisa
