Petition Letter
Hello,
My name is Rebecca Cain and I am currently enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts -Psychology program online. My student number is 20253596. When I started the year, I thought I would split up my psychology courses into two terms instead of taking a bunch in one semester. When I made that decision, I decided to take ASTR 101 to fill credits. I??m writing this letter to ask if I can drop this course. I know it is very late in the term considering my exam is next week Sunday, but I ultimately feel like it is stressing me out to the point where I can??t focus on the courses, I need to fulfill my program requirements. For the past month I??ve really been struggling with my mental health, between working a full-time job during this pandemic and doing school full-time I??ve found myself stretched thin. I have three exams upcoming that are all psychology related and are needed to fulfill program requirements, and all I have been able to focus on is this upcoming exam within this ASTR 101 class. I tried to get through the term, but I have found an extreme amount of stress overcome me as the semester has gone on. To the point where I feel like I must skip work to even be able to have a chance to do good on any exams, which I really can??t afford to do. I have found that the quizzes during the school year were hard even with the notes being present and am worried that this final will put me in jeopardy of failing the class since it needs to be passed to pass the class. I do not want my GPA to be affected because of a class that I didn??t need to take. I just don??t have a passion for astronomy, and I am finding it hard to retain any information and it is just making my mental health worse knowing I am in jeopardy of affecting my final GPA. I have a passion for the classes within my psychology program, so I want to focus more on them. So, I am going out on a whim to please ask for this, I do think dropping this class would provide me with extreme relief and less stress, since it would enable me to focus and put more time and effort into my courses that are more of a priority to my program.
Sincerely,
Rebecca Cain
