Petition Letter
I am appealing to drop ECON 222 (Fall, 2021).
Please refer to appeal number 8462, as this is an additional request. On December 3rd, 2021 I was met with a surprise surgery at the Kingston General Hospital. The week prior I was in extreme physicaly pain and had no focus to study or complete any schoolwork. When I went to the ER on Tuesday November 30th, I waited for 7 hours in excruciating pain until a doctor told me it might be a small discomfort in your abdominal area. I left during the middle of the night with the pain, and given no insight or medication for what the pain was. I made the decision to go to the ER again as the pain was still constant. On my second visit on December 3rd, they completed a CAT scan where I was diagnosed with appendicitis. Ever since the week of Novemeber 29th, it has really taken a toll on my mental health. I am more stressed about my 5 courses, and 5 final evaluations. I am truly worried about my overall GPA and how it will negatively impact my future aspirations. Currently, I am still taking 3-4 apo-hydromorphone pills to numb the pains of the surgery and internal pains. With the continuous recovery pains, I am still finding it difficult to fully focus on studying for exams. I really need to drop this course, I hope you are able to see this.
Going forward, if my appeal/appeals were granted, I would be given a second chance to fairly complete my courses in the summer of 2022, or fall of 2022. I truly hope you are able to see my mental complications with this unseen surgery, and understand my perspective.
