Petition Letter
December 11th, 2021
Dear Associate Dean
I am writing to request a late drop of the four courses I was enrolled in this fall;
CISC 124
PHYS 242
PHYS 206
PHYS 213
My reason for asking for a late drop is that I have been suffering from a substance abuse disorder since the beginning of term. Because of this disorder, my coursework in all of these courses remains largely incomplete, and I am not planning on writing final exams. As is the nature of a substance abuse disorder I was under the belief that I could manage my use and complete sufficient course work to pass. It did not become apparent to me or my family that I needed more serious intervention until late November.
As of the 4th of December, I have returned home to Toronto to my parents. I am currently seeing a counselor at recovery counseling services several times a week (Who will be writing a letter on my behalf) and I have started attending AA meetings. I am planning to start treatment at a facility in BC as of December 14th for approximately 50-60 days. I will be taking next term off to get my life back in order and hope to come back in September of 2022 to continue my studies.
As I am entering treatment and will have limited access to email until the end of February, I would request that if there are follow-up questions or inquiries they be directed to my father John Bogert at bogertja@gmail.com.
Sincerely,
James Bogert
