Petition Letter
Dear whom it may concern,
I am submitting this Academic Appeal to fix my GPA and to discard the Academic probation. To do that, I am asking that courses ASTR 101, BIOL 103, DEVS 100 and HLTH101 be dropped, and that courses PSYC 100, SOCY 122, ECON 111 and GNDS 120 be appealed for a credit standing.
What I want to take away from this is the proper Queens experience and a second chance for me to prove my potential as a student/life long learner. Due to unfortunate circumstances my success was restrained the past couple years (2019-2021) and I would like the chance to rectify that. I have been trying my best to stay somewhat on track while I am experiencing housing issues (flooding, mold, no hot water for a month) and family problems from the past and now which have caused psychological issues. In dealing with the issues and academics simultaneously I was not able to stay on track with all of my assignments due to being mentally drained and feeling hopeless. I have started counselling through queens and dropped courses (CISC 110, MATH 126) this semester to try and balance school life with the issues I am facing. I will be getting everything sorted out so I can fulfill my purpose at Queens as the best student I can be.
To progress in my academics I will be continuing counselling and maintaining a lighter course load. I want to graduate Queens by trying my hardest knowing I didn't quit because of issues out of my control, while dealing with the issues I can control.
