To whom it may concern:
I am a fourth-year student pursuing a Life Sciences Specialization degree. I would like to appeal to late drop BCHM 432 from the Fall 2021 semester. In December, this course was arranged to be marked Incomplete due to my health issues, as I had yet to submit a final assignment and write the final examination. However, my health condition continues to be problematic, and I do not believe I can effectively complete the outstanding work.
I have been experiencing a deterioration in my health condition throughout the Fall 2021 semester, which prompted me to seek support from Student Wellness Services. My health problems have been negatively affecting my sleep, focus, cognitive abilities (information processing), and overall activities of daily living; including leaving home, and other daily functions. This also affected my attendance at lectures. I have been experiencing an exacerbation of symptoms related to my health problems starting in December, which has prevented me from pursuing my original plan of completing this course within the agreed timeframe.
To properly address my health condition, I am currently seeking and arranging for professional treatment, including regular meetings with a personal counsellor. I also intend to reduce my course workload this semester by undertaking part-time studies. I plan to do this to better balance my treatment and academics. My goal is to address my health issues now so that I can be ready to handle future academic demands, eventually returning to a full academic workload.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Monica Opoka
