Petition Letter
To Whom It May Concern:
My name is Oliver Munn (20109625), and I am a fourth-year political science major and economics minor. I write to you today to request that I be allowed admittance into Ian Keay??s second year economics 231 class after the deadline has already passed to add courses. My reason for this request comes following my realization that I am one class (3 credits) short of fulfilling my requirements to graduate with an economics minor in the spring of 2022. This error is a personal one as when I moved from being a political science/economics medial into a major in politics and minor in economics, I missed the fact that I still had to take statistics in both fields. This mistake led to myself being one class short in economics as ECON 250 was used in this instance to satisfy my political science statistics requirement. I did not catch this mistake until I applied to graduate two days ago and was informed that I was in fact one class short in economics. By being admitted late into ECON 231, I would satisfy the economic requirements for my minor and graduate on time.
I understand that I have missed the first four weeks of class and my plan to compensate for this will be to borrow the notes from a friend who previously took this class. As a fourth-year thesis student, my schedule at the present is fairly open as I am not in a full course load this semester and spend most of my time working on this thesis. I believe that my academic standing and work ethic speak to a student who would be able to acclimate to the course in a short period of time, and I would love the opportunity to pursue this and graduate on time. I am currently in the process of applying for law school and have a desire to try and fix this problem before it derails this goal of mine from a mistake that is out of character.
