Academic Plan
To Whom It May Concern:
My name is Oliver Munn (20109625), and I am a fourth-year political science major and economics minor. My academic plan in this instance is driven by my wish to graduate in the spring of 2022. The focus of my studies has evolved over my four years at Queen??s university as I started my university career with the desire to become a political science and economics medial. This changed following the fall 2020 semester, in which I made the decision to move from this degree into a major in political science and minor in economics. This choice was made as my mathematical capabilities were not strong enough to generate grades consistent with my plan to pursue a law degree. Following this move, my guidance counsellor and I built out a schedule which would see myself graduate on time in the spring of 2022. A miscommunication occurred within this process as I did not discover that my degree required statistics in both politics and economics until a few days ago (end of January 2022). This led to myself not picking up an economics class to ensure that I satisfied the criteria as set out by my undergraduate degree. This personal mistake is why I am appealing to be allowed the opportunity to take Ian Keay??s second year ECON 231 class so as to satisfy this requirement and graduate on schedule after four years of study.
Regarding a plan moving forward, I am currently enrolled in 3 classes as well as finishing my fourth-year political science thesis. To compensate for missing the first four weeks of class, my plan is to utilize the notes of a friend who has previously taken this class to catch up with the current course material. As my schedule mostly consists of thesis work, my goal is to take a week off my thesis and work overtime so that I am all caught up by the start of reading week. I believe that this is a reasonable goal given my academic standing as a full-time student who has taken a full course load every year except for my fourth year. Furthermore, my past history with economics and knowledge of Industrial Britain presents me with a good starting point towards catching up with my fellow classmates and the current material.
