Petition Letter
I am asking to drop PHIL 257B from the 2018 winter semester. As well as ANAT 100, PHIL 2024, PHIL 318, PHIL 328, PHIL 347 from the 2019 fall semester. I would also like to ask for a credit standing for CLST 130 from the fall 2019 semester.
I was unable to submit this appeal earlier because I was unsure if I was eligible to submit one if I was owing school fees, I also needed to get the appropriate documentation. I have come a long way and have tried to get in a good mental state in order to complete my studies but these particular grades are putting a lot of pressure on my final year and have also affected my GPA drastically.
I have done an appeal before in the 2018 winter semester and for some reason PHIL 257B was left out of the grades I wanted to drop so I have to include it in this appeal letter. For my FALL 2019 semester I went through an extremely difficult time mentally and was facing pressure from family to continue my studies which is why I decided not to drop any courses and had a six-course load. I was unable to focus on anything in the real world let alone school and at this point I was speaking to a counsellor at Queens who diagnosed me with depression and anxiety. I took on way more than I could and as a result my grades suffered tremendously. I would start assignments and be mentally exhausted to finish. I had a lot of sleepless nights and missed classes for this reason. Anxiety and depression are honestly something I have struggled with my entire university years and things just kept getting worse.
