Petition Letter
Hello Hope all is well. I submitted an appeal on January 6, but I was told to withdraw that and reappeal later on. I apologize for this coming in later than intended as the school year really picked up the pace for me. The purpose of this appeal is to drop MICR360 as I did not pass the course. This course was broken down into 2 20% midterms and a 60% final. On October 4th, my close relative (uncle) passed away. This took a greater toll on my mental health than I expected and due to this, I performed very poorly on the first midterm which was on October 20. The second midterm was on November 10, after the drop date on November 4. I thought I could redeem my mark on that midterm, but that hit impacted my ability to keep up with the class and I ended up doing just as poorly on the second midterm. Performing this way in class is not something that normally happens to me as evident by my transcript and my other courses did not get impacted as badly because they were made up of smaller-weight assignments. This is the first close family death I have experienced in my family and it took a surprising toll on me. I was advised by my student wellness counsellor and academic advisors to appeal to drop this course later and that I had a valid case, which is why I am here now. Being able to drop this mark from my transcript would help me in more ways than imaginable and would be very deeply appreciated. Thank you for your time.
