Petition Letter
Dear whomever it may concern,
My name is Haruna Hirotani and I am applying for an appeal for credit standing due to circumstances I was unable to control. I have tested positive for COVID-19 during the week of my final exams in which I was unable to attend my final exam for STAT263. Ever since catching COVID, I have had loss of taste and smell for a couple weeks in which I have lost appetite, causing me to lose significant amount of weight. Due to lack of energy as well as unhealthy eating habits, I was unable to study thoroughly for my upcoming STAT263 exam worth 60% where it will affect my final grade. Furthermore, I plan on transferring to UofT where my conditional offer states to maintain my overall GPA at 3.0. I am moving to UofT due to family issues - my working parents have a hard time juggling work while paying for my siblings' tuition as well as looking after their youngest daughter so I must transfer to UofT where it is closer to home so I can take care of my sister. I have been travelling back and fourth between Toronto and Kingston by bus or train every weekend in order to watch after my sister any chance I get, therefore, I chose to transfer to UofT where I can study while raising her. I prioritize school as you can tell through my past grades, however, ever since getting COVID-19, as well as the stress of taking care of my sister, my marks have decreased as well as my confidence in doing well. Therefore, due to STAT263 lowering my overall GPA, I would be unable to transfer to UofT which may result in another option of dropping out of school as my sister and family is priority.
I hope you understand the unfortunate circumstance I am currently in and I appreciate your time and concern.
