Academic Plan
I have spoken with academic counsellors both at Queens and Guelph who confirmed that this plan should work and all I needed to do was contact the necessary people. I have done so. I have entered courses 'late' in the past in my undergraduate degree and had no issue excelling in them (generally a grade no lower than A-), and well as I confirmed with the course instructor that this is something both her and myself are comfortable with. With this course I will be able to resolve the issues surrounding my DVM application which have been plaguing me since May of 2021. With COVID, it was extremely difficult to contact anyone at Guelph to ask what issues there were with my application and what needed to be done to fix it. Many times I called and was met with either an answering machine which was never checked (at least no one ever responded to my calls), being straight up hung up on, or cryptic answers because the people did not know the answers to my questions or who might know. A few times during my undergraduate degree I also went to an academic advisor, and a career councilor explaining that this was the program I was aiming to apply to and asking them to verify that I was on the right track to enter the program. I was told yes, everything was in order but that was obviously not the case as there was already issues present. Had I been made aware of these issues, I would have had time to fix them in my remaining time as an undergraduate student but now I am forced to try and correct them during my graduate studies. I was only just recently able to get a 1-to-1 meeting with someone at Guelph who had the answered I needed, resulting in the actions I described above.
I am not enrolled in any courses over the summer term which would allow me to dedicate 100% of my focus to this course and really excel at it. Vet school has always been my dream and I am not going to give up despite the mountain of barriers that I have faced. All I need is this one course. I have verification from this staff person at Guelph, and permission from the appropriate people.
