Petition Letter
Dear Associate Dean,
Hope all is well I have emailed Dr. Matrix a few times for a regrade on Assignment 2 in ENIN 340 Winter semester 2022. However, I haven't heard back, thus am writing to you regarding appealing this assignment. I received a 58% with the following feedback, Interesting work here, unclear how it relates to the required seasonal and educational themes. In the assignment handout, it was indicated to create a case study pitch for an intrapreneurial innovation related to the theme of seasons (broadly defined) for an organization or company (or for a department located within one of those entities) involved in delivering education (broadly defined) to end-users (internal or external publics). It further indicated to, brainstorm and formulate a pitch for an intrapreneurial innovation (pitched from the perspective of an employee working WITHIN the organization) to address these themes/issues, add some research backing (3 course connections + 3 external sources, minimum), and present your pitch via a slide deck (max 20 slides). Grading was based on both style (for example: layout, legibility, creativity, aesthetic appeal) and substance (for example: originality of idea, thorough analysis, integration of course concepts, overall completeness, depth of insight, level of detail, writing mechanics, evidence of research) are considered followed by a detailed document with best practices on what A and B+ range submissions required.
I believe I can provide substantial evidence from the pdf submitted of my Assignment 2 that demonstrates a higher grade than 58%. I utilized the feedback from Assignment 1 to thoroughly address both themes the second time around as I had wanted to improve from my feedback and 68% on Assignment 1.
In terms of educational themes, the whole solution revolves around education to both external end-users and internal end-users. External end-users are the patients who would benefit from the organization's work and are the ones directly being educated about Tuberculosis. Internal end-users benefit from how the education will benefit the business. Because when the external end-users are more educated, more money and resources can be saved and reallocated to other areas of the business, such as commercialization instead of R&D. In the last lecture, Dr. Matrix mentioned ways of addressing the education theme like raising awareness, collaborating with experts, or professional development. The opportunities and solutions incorporate all 3 of those things by raising awareness about Tuberculosis and collaborating with experts in this disease to teach the local citizens of India to professionally develop them in educating the Indian population.
In terms of seasonality, I ensured to dedicate a whole slide on this theme to address it thoroughly. I took what Dr. Matrix mentioned in the last lecture on ways the solution could be seasonal while bringing in unique takes that fit more with the solution I had created. I gave a few options about how the education could be seasonal and picked the first option as the most likely candidate for the solution and end-users to bring the greatest success.
I utilized the class-wide feedback best practices that yielded A and B+ range grades in other areas too. Such as, even though I took points from the lectures and readings to address the themes, Dr. Matrix mentioned in her last lecture that the themes were broadly defined, where there could be many takes on addressing those themes. So I took a unique spin by picking a non-profit company that addressed the healthcare and life sciences industry to develop a more creative and original educational & seasonal solution. Thus, I explained the necessary background and science to make it understandable to any audience. Even added visuals on slide 6 on the processes behind the pharmaceutical industry to increase understandability. I had pitched this innovative solution as an employee within the NGO company, followed by thorough research both externally and internally using class material lectures and readings from each week. I had provided a total of 21 citations with adequate writing on their relevance, going above and beyond the required 6 citations.
In terms of the style, going back to the class-wide best practices document, I ensured, just like Assignment 1, to follow these best practices. For example, well organized using signposts such as subheadings, subtitles, and subsections. In-text citations were provided. Consistent colour and font scheme was utilized throughout. I had created each slide from a blank slide which utilized unique text boxes, shapes, and lines, and they were all properly aligned. I had included a self-made table of contents, title page, and logo to catch the audience's attention. There were high-quality pictures provided with an adequate explanation of their relevance in the pitch.
Lastly, marks taken off for late submission shouldn't have applied as I had submitted an Academic Consideration with supporting documentation, followed by emailing it to Dr. Matrix.
I appreciate you taking the time to look into my appeal and look forward to hearing back.
Best Regards,
David
