Petition Letter
Dear Associate Dean,
My name is Trinity Allen (20238664). I am appealing to drop my Spring 2022 course PHIL 240. It was not a required course for my major, and initially, I had signed up for the course in an attempt to get ahead in completing my required number of credits. In the past year, there were a few credits I was unable to get as I suffered severely with my mental and physical health through the fall and winter months. I hoped desperately I would have been able to complete this course and get those credits this spring. Unfortunately, the class hours were three consecutive hours twice a week In Person. I found it beyond difficult to be able to make it to class hours due to my mental health struggles. I also had difficulty making it to in-person classes as I do have to work full-time hours in the summer in order to Pay for my rent, utilities, and various other expenses in which I do not receive support from my Parents.
I am currently enrolled in two online courses, one starting in May and going great The online courses allow me to work around my work schedule and as give me some breathing room with my poor mental health days. The instructor of PHIL 240 said if we were unable to attend a minimum of 10 out of 12 classes, we would not pass the course. I did not make it too nearly that many. I did not use any class resources or the instructor??s time. No assignments have been graded; therefore, no grades need to be ??erased? or reversed. My plan is to continue on with my current online course and start my second online course when it begins in July. I want to put my all into the online courses.
My sincerest apology for not being able to be successful in completing PHIL 240 and my apologies for any inconveniences this may cause. I will provide a few documents from my doctor which she has written up before just to show I do suffer from a past of mental illnesses that I to this day experience. If any further information is required, please let me know. Thank you so much for your time and consideration.
