Petition Letter
To the Associate Dean (Academic):
I am appealing for a further extension of an Incomplete (IN) grade for PHIL 311 (Fall, 2021) and PHIL 362 (Fall, 2021).
Since my last appeal, I am still experiencing an episode of my chronic mental illness. I have been trying to use various coping and management strategies for my mental health, that I had learned over past courses of treatment. Although I have been working to manage my mental health, it has taken considerable time to improve my condition. I have made some progress on the unfinished work for the courses, but unfortunately, I need some extra time to complete the work.
I am trying to continue with my studies, and I have registered for Fall 2022 term at a reduced course load in light of my situation. If I am not granted an extension, I plan to repeat the courses; otherwise, I cannot make progress on my degree requirements.
I have attached a copy of the documentation from my psychiatrist. I can provide further supporting documentation, if necessary.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Nancy Shiao-Yin Chua
