Appeal to Drop ASTR 102

It is with great sadness I am appealing to drop ASTR 102 this term Fall 2022.
I am an online student and a full-time mom to a seven-year-old nonverbal autistic child. Although this circumstance did present itself with significant challenges in previous semesters, I was able to manage the at times unpredictable scheduling due to the challenges of autism.
In the past three weeks, however, there have been some significant changes to challenges of autism including but not limited to OCD behaviors, heightened sensory, and the unfortunate not uncommon aggressive behaviors often seen in nonverbal autistic people. The past two weeks have consisted of various medical visits (family doctor, pediatrician, specialists, child psychiatrist, hospital visits). This extenuating circumstance is taking a toll physically, mentally, and emotionally. Our family is in crisis. The next several months will continue with medical appointments and trial and error management solutions. I will most certainly not be able to fulfill all the assignments and preparation that is required of me this term at this time.
My expectation is that we will have a management treatment by the end of this semester, and I will be able to return to classes next semester Winter 2023.
