Petition Letter
Dear Dr. Jenn Stephenson,
I am appealing to late drop PSYC 241 - Social Psychology (Fall 2022).
I have had an increase in the severity of my mental health and disability above and beyond what is normal or expected for me. Because of this, my current course load has become unmanageable. The increase in severity began at the end of September. I did not drop this course at that time because this flare-up was expected to happen based on past flare-ups of my disability. In the past, this increase in severity has resolved and I have been able to successfully complete my coursework. Based on how I was feeling in September, there was no reason for me to think that this increase in severity would not resolve itself again. However, my mental health continued to worsen, and I received care from SWS on November 7th, 2022. Late dropping this course will allow me to focus on my remaining three courses and give me the best opportunity to successfully complete this semester.
My plan is to decrease my course load for the Winter 2023 semester and take an additional semester in Summer 2023 to complete my studies. During this semester I will take a Psychology course to fulfill the requirements that will not be met by my dropping PSYC 241. I will also take an elective course to finish the requirements of my degree for a projected graduation date of Summer 2023.
Thank you for your consideration,
Char Wessel
