Petition Letter
I am requesting an appeal to take more than 18.0 units in the winter term of 2023. During my second year, I decided to enroll in the Commerce Certificate, causing me to take four extra courses that do not contribute to my degree. Based on the previous History major plan, the upper-year seminar courses were worth 4.5 units. Since the upper-year seminars were worth more, I had more space in my timetable to complete my degree and certificate by the end of my fourth year if I took one class in the summer of 2022 and 2023. However, the degree plan changed after accepting the certificate and taking the required courses. The previous organization of my final two years is now impossible, as I have an extra three classes to complete my degree and certificate on time. I would like the opportunity to take a sixth class next semester to lighten my summer course load while I study and write the LSAT. I believe I can manage six courses with time management and organization. My academic record this semester has been the highest in my three years at Queens, and I do not think a sixth class would jeopardize my academics.
