Petition Letter: To whomever this may concern:
It is with regret that I am writing this letter to inform you that under the current circumstances, I have been placed in a position in which I am obliged to drop my Electromagnetism (PHYS239) and Vibrations and Waves (PHYS212) courses at a date later than the suggested course drop date.
I realize that I should have taken action sooner, and possibly dropped these courses at the beginning of the semester, which I would have done had I foreseen how my semester would unfold. I had completed my previous semester successfully, and felt encouraged to undertake both a Mathematics and Physics degree, hoping to declare this title at the end of the successful completion of this school year.
I felt truly prepared to undertake a heavy load of academic courses; so I began: I took on six courses, and exhausted myself at the beginning of this semester. I came to the conclusion to drop one course at a proper date. Unfortunately, the stress from my full course load was still able to trigger my mental health issues.
My professors for my courses (PHYS239 and PHYS212) were especially understanding and considerate, and willing to accommodate to my needs, giving me extensions when possible. Unfortunately, due to the nature of my anxiety, I found myself struggling to keep up in my classes.
Simultaneously this semester, a family crisis emerged causing extenuating circumstances acting as a catalyst for my aforementioned mental health issues.
I have come to the conclusion that perhaps a heavy course load of both Mathematics and Physics courses may be triggering my diagnosed anxiety and depression leading to other problems.
I plan to make up these missing credits with summer courses and plan to decrease my course load for this coming year, and will consider staying another year in order to complete my degree. I have begun to plan a method of treatment for the course of the summer, and am getting the help in order to assure that this situation does not repeat itself.
