Petition Letter

Petition Letter: February 2nd, 2023

Dear Dr. Jenn Stephenson (Associate Dean ?? Academic),

My name is Taylor Seeley (20075660), and I am petitioning to add a class after the last official date for adding classes for this Winter 2023 term (January 20th, 2023). I am petitioning to add the following class ENIN 140 (Online - 5466). Enrolling in this course will allow me to fulfill my last requirement to graduate: 3.0 units of electives. My second choice for a course to add would be ANAT 100 (Online - 6144) if ENIN 140 is not an available option.

As of January 3rd, 2023, I was overcome with a medical condition that induced a lot of anxiety related stress. While this condition was non-life-threatening, I had to wait until January 19th, 2023, to talk to a doctor and receive treatment. Over the weeks leading up to my medical treatment, I was overcome with anxiety that was largely due to a lack of emotional support surrounding my condition at home, as well as the medical condition and its anticipated medical treatment. Once receiving my medical treatment, I was in severe pain from January 19th to January 25th, 2023. My anxiety in the weeks prior to receiving medical treatment, as well as receiving medical treatment the day prior to the last official date for adding classes, affected my ability to enroll in ENIN 140 by January 20th, 2023. Now that I have received my necessary treatment and completed my follow up appointment with my doctor on January 26th, 2023, my circumstance has been resolved and my feelings of anxiety surrounding the situation have subsided.

Should my petition be granted, I am now able to make a successful return to my studies and continue my progress towards graduating this Spring, 2023, through enrolling in and successfully completing ENIN 140 or ANAT 100. My plan moving forward would be to successfully complete one of these online provided courses, as this will allow me to fulfill my last requirement to successfully graduate this Spring, 2023. Since this is my last 3.0 units of electives required to graduate, I will not only be motivated to ensure that I complete this course, but I will also ensure that I complete the course material with high quality standards, as this will be my final and only course I will be enrolled in.

Thank you for your consideration,
Taylor Seeley
