Petition Letter: To whom this may concern,
I am filing an appeal in order to retroactively drop a course that I was enrolled in during the winter semester in 2022; ENGL 218.
At the time that I was enrolled in this class, I was going through many mental health struggles, where my doctor and I decided that I needed to take a step back and begin medication. To be honest, I completely forgot that I was enrolled and never even signed on to D2L to start the class. I only realized that I had been enrolled when I received an email notification (my personal email) stating that I failed the course as well as failed to pay my tuition. In addition, I did not have access to my student account since I was locked out and could not file an appeal earlier. There has been a lot of back and forth between Gillian Berry and the IT department to resolve this issue.
This was the only course I was mistakenly enrolled in since I've worked a full-time job as a teacher since 2020 and I am an alumni since 2019.
Please consider my request to retroactively drop this course as it was due to a mistake and not a lack of effort.
Sincerely,
Mikaela Shalla
