Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,

On November 25th, 2022, I was admitted to KGH for a grave systemic infection. My situation quickly worsened and I was admitted to Montreal's General Hospital. I stayed there for a few weeks and was given a notice by my doctor who noted that I would not be able to resume my academic obligations until January 5th. The documentation was sent to the university and I arranged to complete my assignments at a later date with my professors. I have now completed most of the work for the classes that I missed while I was in the hospital, with the exception of one course, DEVS 393. After discussing my options with my professors and various academic advisors, I have come to the conclusion that it would be in my best interest to extend the INcomplete grade for DEVS 393 into the summer term. Having come back from a very traumatic medical leave and having had to work through my outstanding work while balancing a completely new course load has been very overwhelming. This has been further confounded by my learning disability. I am now at the point in the semester where I am trying to catch up on my current classes to ensure that my situation has no further effect on my grades. Given my situation, it is unfortunately not possible for me to complete the outstanding work I have for DEVS 393 while balancing my current course load. For this reason, I am submitting an appeal to extend my assignment deadlines for DEVS 393 into the summer term. This would allow me to successfully complete my current term and maintain the credits I need to graduate in May 2024.
