Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I appealing to apply for the independent study abroad program to the Hong Kong Polytechnic University for the next school year (2015-2016), which will be my third year.
I eager to join this program because I am tempted to experience a more diverse study atmosphere, which I believe will bring me to a different level of understanding to similar materials that I also encountered while studying at Queen¿¿s. On one hand, I am hoping to apply for some core courses that are equivalent to courses I have taken at Queen¿¿s because I am seeking various ways to approach these similar topics by learning from professors who have been working or researching under a completely different environment. On the other hand, I also hope to apply for some elective courses that I have not taken at Queen¿¿s yet because I seek to experience how other universities in different countries would elevate my interest on the field.
Moreover, I am looking for a study environment that is most suitable for me as I realized that it has been a tough job trying to fit into the Queen¿¿s society because of the cultural and the language differences. I think that studying in my hometown, Hong Kong, might be a good plan for me, partly because of the people whom I will be meeting, and mostly because my family lives there. I believe that studying in an environment I am more familiar with will be a type of encouragement to my study.
In addition, I eager to share my experience at Queen¿¿s to peers in Hong Kong, who have less chance to study abroad but have great interest in it. Similarly, if I am granted for this program, I will be able to share my experience at the PolyU to fellow students at Queen¿¿s through the weekly broadcast I am participating in currently. It is a weekly radio program through CFRC that is hosted by me and another student of Queen¿¿s. Our goal is to the deliver and broaden the Chinese culture to people around, and also to strengthen bondages between people who hold such culture. I realized that the PolyU also holds similar objectives as myself. I believe that studying in an environment that has similar goals as I hold will bring encouragement to my study as well.
In my opinion, it will be an interesting experience to be able to join this program for all or part of my third year in the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
