Petition Letter

Petition Letter: I failed CISC 101 due to circumstances beyond my control. I suffer from depression and anxiety, as well as other potential mental illnesses yet to be officially diagnosed, which made it very difficult for me to attend classes, communicate regularly with teachers and peers, complete assignments, etc. Along with starting university, which is an anxiety-inducing process for most, as well as that fact that I had never been exposed to coding/computing in the past, all of these factors combined together made it very hard for me to excel. I attempted to apply for accommodations, but there was a lot to do and the process became very overwhelming for me, so it ended up getting pushed under the rug continuously. Because of these reasons, I ask that my failed course be marked as dropped rather than failed on my personal transcript. I feel it is unfair to have it loom over me for the rest of my time at Queen's, considering my failing was a nearly unescapable fate due to extenuating circumstances. I thank you for your consideration.
